Practical Sessions in Advanced Matriculation

These courses were offered by the Junior College during academic year 2024/25. These and/or different courses may be offered each year. The list of subjects that will be offered is usually announced in the beginning of each academic year. 

Target

JC offered practical sessions in Advanced Matriculation Biology/Chemistry/Physics for applicants who:

  • were not registered at an educational institution and therefore had no access to laboratory facilities

OR

  • were not studying the respective subject at an educational institution

OR

  • were 18 years old by December 2024.

Objective

The three separate practical courses focused on experimental sessions in Advanced Matriculation Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Entry Requirements

Eligible applicants needed:
  • a pass at SEC level in the respective subject
  • to have studied the respective subject at Advanced level. 

General Information

Ten (10) weekly sessions of three (3) hours each. This may have varied as specified in the respective subject description. Each session focused on practical aspects.

Sessions were held as follows: 

Physics - Monday evenings

Biology - Wednesday evenings 

Chemistry - Thursday evenings

JC  reserved the right to change the days indicated if required.

Conditions

  • These courses were offered subject to a minimum number of students applying, and there was a limited number of places available in each course. 
  • Students attending these practical courses were expected to abide by the rules and conditions which apply to full-time students, including the Student Code of Behaviour.
  • Students were expected to be punctual and attend all practical sessions for which they were registered.

Fees

An non-refundable registration fee of EUR 23.30 applied.

Each courses fee was EUR 450.00 and full payment needed to be made within a week from acceptance which was on a first-come, first-served basis.

Refund of the course fee only applied in case the course in question was not held.

Application dates

Applications were received until Friday 22 November at 14:00 hrs.
