Chrisco Voluntary Work

Chrisco Voluntary Work (S001) is an Enrichment Programme Unit for students who are interested in discovering the possibility of personal and spiritual growth as they give of their time, energy and talents to others through voluntary work.


Learning Outcomes

By the end of this unit, students should be able to:

  • appreciate personal growth through giving (rather than just receiving)
  • discovering the spiritual dimension in being there for others.

Duration and frequency of sessions

2 hours every week but it may vary depending on whether it is a group session, a one-to-one session or a session of voluntary work outside or at JC.

40 hours

 

Proposed day and time

Initial meetings: Wednesday 14:00 - 16:00

Other meetings and the work itself will be agreed upon on an individual basis. 

 

Marks earned

Maximum marks possibly earned in this EPU: 20 marks 

 

Further details

Students are required to:

  • commit themselves to doing voluntary work in various areas
  • assist the Chaplaincy in its activities.

For further personal growth students will meet to discover the wealth that voluntary work offers and further discuss its impact on their lives both personally and as active students in our college.  

Students themselves will be encouraged to engage in finding ways of promoting voluntary work



Additional benefits

May be used as part of an SOK project subject to the approval of the SOK Coordinator.
