Environmental Committee, Active Participation (X003) is an Enrichment Programme Unit for students who are interested in Environmental Sustainability projects and practices.

 

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this unit, students should be able to:

Duration and frequency of sessions

One hour every fortnight

 

Total duration of the EPU

20 hours (10 hours shall be dedicated to voluntary work done with a local environmental NGO)

This will be determined during the first meeting as it depends on both staff and student timetables alike.

 

Marks earned

Maximum marks possibly earned in this EPU: 10 marks 

 

Further details

Participating students need to attend meetings to plan an activity/project. Some meetings are based on presentations and advertising the activity/project on JC portal and JC social media. Students will need to be present on the day of the event to communicate with all stakeholders. Further information about the Environmental Committee is available on the website.

Project/s if applicable can be used in SOK projects upon the approval by SOK Coordinator.

 

Conditions 

  • Student registration is through a nomination and an interview. 
  • This EPU cannot be taken in conjunction with EPU C018 Becoming an Environmental Activist due to overlapping activities.
  • 10 hours shall be dedicated to voluntary work with a local environmental NGO or attending activities organised by said NGOs. These may include clean-ups, work in animal sanctuaries and attending educational activities organised by local NGOs such as visits to nature reserves or Natura 2000 sites. Students must provide proof of their attendance for such activities as stipulated by the EP coordinator.
  • Students working in animal sanctuaries must fill in a consent form by their parents/legal guardians available from the EPU Coordinator.
