Bioethics Weekend Seminar (X002) is an Enrichment Programme Unit for second year advanced biology students who are interested in bioethics
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this unit, students should be able to:
- understand the term Bioethics
- analyse ethical situations and be aware of them
- learn about abortion, organ transplantation, epigenetics, IVF, euthanasia and various ethical issues arising from these situations
- understand and discuss analysed data.

Duration and frequency of sessions
The workshop takes place over a weekend starting on a Friday at 18:00 and ending on Sunday at 14:00.

The weekend will take place some time in the second semester or as communicated by the Biology Subject Coordinator.
Marks earned
Maximum marks possibly earned in this EPU: 25 marks
Further details
The workshop is filled with activities such as: team building activities, discussions, treasure hunt, society games, staged trials and various talks by experts in the field.

Conditions
- The total number of participants is dependent on the place hosting the group.
- A minimum of 20 students is required to run the unit.
- Student registration is on a first come first served basis.
- Students are expected to:
- involve themselves in all activities
- respect the JC Code of Behaviour at all times
- be punctual, respectful, and to observe norms and regulations.
- dress appropriately.

A participation fee is required dependent on the place hosting the group. This will be communicated in advance by the Biology Subject Coordinator.
