Ħolqa Lab (K007) is an Enrichment Programme Unit for students who are interested in theatre, performing arts, music, visual arts, culture and intercultural experiences.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this unit, students should be able to:
- work as part of a team
- have acquired basic knowledge and ability in view of organising and hosting an international festival event
- apply acquired skills such as intercultural, collaboration and communication skills
- understand the basics of event marketing concepts
- apply basic video production skills (from concept to actualisation)
- apply their creativity in a more focused and structured manner
- apply hospitality management and front of house skills
- have a general understanding of cultural concepts in respect of visual and performing arts.

Ħolqa Lab is part of the build-up towards Ħolqa International Youth Arts Festival, usually held in March of each academic year. Ħolqa Lab includes a series of ongoing cultural, artistic, information and training events which will enable students in the various artistic spheres to appreciate the concept of the Ħolqa Festival in its entirety. The Lab is a space to learn, collaborate and create!
In addition, students will complete their experience by working as part of the activities carried out by the following groups:
- Ħolqa Anġli - dedicated to assisting with international participants
- Ħolqa Helping Hands - working on various festival setting-up activities
- Ħolqa Reporters - developing and applying Ħolqa's marketing strategy
- Ħolqa Front of House - managing guests, welcoming VIPs, ushering and provision of information to the general public
Ħolqa Lab is open to all interested students. Students are expected to attend at least 70 % of all sessions, and attend throughout the Festival in order to contribute to the success of the festival.

This experience is valid as a SOK project and benefits students' overall holistic learning experience in line with the Junior College mission statement and personal cultural enrichment. Consult with the SOK Coordinator beforehand.
Conditions
- Registration is on a first come first served basis.
- At least 50 students are required to run the festival effectively.
- Note that students forming part of Żfin Kulleġġ and Teatru Kulleġġ (Membership) will not need to register for the Ħolqa Lab EP as their registration is automatic.
