Marketing can be seen as 'a management process which identifies, anticipates and satisfies customer requirements efficiently and profitably' (The Chartered Institute of Marketing).

During the two year course at the Junior College, a solid understanding of marketing principles and concepts is given. The course focuses on topics such as Consumer Buying Behaviour, Marketing Research, Product Strategy, Pricing Strategy, Distribution Strategy, Communications Strategy and various other interesting areas that are important in running an organisation in today's highly competitive world.

Our Department

The Department of Marketing at the University of Malta Junior College offers two courses, each of a two year duration, leading to the Matriculation and Secondary Education Certificate (MATSEC) examinations:
AM 23 Advanced Level Marketing
IM 23 Intermediate Level Marketing

If you are taking Marketing at either Advanced or Intermediate level you are not required to have any particular background in the subject to follow the courses we offer. After the two year Advanced level course at the Junior College, students can follow the Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Communications degrees at the University of Malta, as well as other relevant Degrees.

The Marketing Department is located in Rooms C307 and C308. All the lecturers are available in their office during their contact hours, as published on the department notice board. Otherwise you can make an appointment. You can contact the lecturers via email. You are urged to make use of their contact hours, to solve any problems or difficulties regarding the subject and related matters

Advanced Level Marketing

The advanced level course involves a combination of theory and practice and is based on lectures, tutorials and seminars. The lectures are mainly about the theoretical aspects of marketing with practical examples from the commercial world to aid better understanding of the subject. The tutorials and seminars are more practical in nature and involve more student participation, presentations and group work as well as extracurricular activities. Periodic assignments, progress tests as well as group work are regularly assigned  to students.

Intermediate Level Marketing

The intermediate level course offers a good understanding of all core marketing principles and is mainly lecture based, supported with practical examples. Periodic assignments and progress tests will be given to students.

Our students

Students are expected to observe all College rules. You are expected to attend lectures regularly and on time. All assignments given should be handed in on the due date. You are also expected to be well organised and produce proper notes for their own use. Use of the College Library for research purposes is also highly recommended.
