The Committee seeks ways to promote the good practice in the teaching and learning of languages at Junior College.
The aims of this Committee are to:
- raise awareness in College and beyond, about the importance of languages (to be showcased during the college Open Day)
- propose policies and suggestions related to the enhancement of teaching and learning of languages at Advanced and Intermediate level
- propose/create initiatives, namely EP units to further engage students in languages
- coordinate activities and collaborate with other entities related to the teaching of language and literature in the language subjects, namely, but not only, Chiasmus/Kjazmu Writing Programme; Open Mic
- participate in outreach events aimed at promoting the language and culture of the languages taught at Junior College
- coordinate participation and coaching in national and international competitions such as Juvenes Translatores and Linguistic Olympiad
- foster among students an appreciation of identity and cultural expression pertaining to the language being taught
- promote bilingualism, thereby enriching the linguistic experience at Junior College, including but not only, a translation of the key texts across the various languages studied at our College;
- assist students in the production of a yearly publication of students’ and lecturers’ creative writing (such as essays, articles, translations etc).
